Why does my browser keep forgetting stuff?

Yeah, I totally get the “all eggs in one basket” worry. I’ve had a sync fail once and it was a pain digging through old exports to piece things back together. Extensions can help, but honestly, I found myself just moving the mess around instead of actually cleaning it up. Sometimes it feels like adding more shelves in a cluttered garage—just more places for stuff to pile up. Maybe it’s about finding the right balance between tools and just letting go of what you don’t need.

That’s such a perfect analogy. I’ve definitely been guilty of just “reorganizing” my digital clutter instead of actually getting rid of it. It’s like, do I really need bookmarks from five years ago? Probably not, but I keep them just in case.

Have you tried doing a full-on digital declutter, like Marie Kondo style? I did that with my browser a while back—just deleted everything I hadn’t used in ages. It was weirdly satisfying, and I haven’t missed anything yet. I wonder if part of the problem is that we trust these tools to remember everything for us, but then when sync fails or something glitches, it’s like the rug gets pulled out from under us.

Do you think it’s better to rely on built-in browser sync, or is it safer to keep manual backups? I’m always torn between convenience and control.
