Had one of those moments today where everything finally clicked. Been scratching my head for weeks trying to figure out exactly what our inspector meant by "adequate fire separation" for my basement reno. You know, building codes can be a bit like deciphering ancient runes sometimes... Anyway, after some research and a few YouTube rabbit holes later, it suddenly made sense. Passed inspection today, and man, that felt good. Curious if anyone else has had those "aha!" moments with tricky code stuff lately?

Congrats on passing inspection—those moments of clarity are definitely satisfying. I've found building codes, especially around fire separation, can be frustratingly vague at times. Recently dealt with a similar issue regarding soundproofing between floors; the inspector's definition of "adequate" seemed subjective at best. After some digging, turns out local amendments can significantly alter what's considered compliant. Always worth double-checking municipal guidelines alongside national codes... saves headaches later on. Glad you got it sorted.
