Yeah, totally agree with this. I've found that casually dropping hints about upcoming projects—like mentioning you're planning to install some lighting or a gate—can gently set boundaries without making things weird. Worked for me before, anyway...
I've had something similar happen at my old place. Neighbors started using our driveway as a shortcut to their backyard—wasn't a huge deal at first, but it got awkward when we wanted privacy or had guests park there.
