- Metal’s a tank, but yeah, can look out of place on a vintage place.
- If you’re set on metal, check out the textured or matte finishes—they dial down that “warehouse chic” vibe.
- Synthetic slate’s a toss-up. I’ve seen it go weirdly wavy after a couple summers.
- If you want to keep the classic look, maybe look into architectural shingles. Not as tough as metal, but they blend in better and tech’s come a long way.
- Gut feeling: match the roof to the house’s personality, not just the lifespan... unless you secretly want an excuse to redo it again in 20 years.
