Been thinking about finally getting my home network sorted properly. Right now, it's a mess of cables, routers, and random extenders plugged in everywhere...you know how it goes. I'm tempted to bite the bullet and get proper wiring installed behind walls and stuff, but is it really worth the hassle and cost these days? Or should I just stick with Wi-Fi mesh setups? Curious if anyone's done this recently and has thoughts or regrets.

Haha, been there—seen plenty of homes with cable spaghetti behind every TV stand. Honestly, wired connections behind walls are great for reliability, especially if you're streaming or gaming. But mesh Wi-Fi setups have gotten pretty solid lately. Are you mainly streaming, gaming, or just general browsing?
I went wired for my main setup—gaming and streaming mostly—and honestly, zero regrets. Took a weekend to fish cables through walls, but the stability is night and day compared to Wi-Fi. Mesh systems are definitely better now, but still not perfect if you're picky about latency or buffering. Curious though, how big's your place? If it's smaller, mesh might be plenty good enough without the drywall headaches...

Totally agree on stability, but if anyone's hesitant about drywall surgery, there are simpler ways to go wired without the mess. I've had great luck running Ethernet through baseboards or behind crown molding—pretty painless and reversible if you're renting or just hate patching walls. Plus, wired setups use less energy overall, which is a nice bonus if you're eco-conscious. Just something to consider before you bust out the drywall saw...

Interesting idea, but doesn't running cable behind crown molding get tricky around corners or doorways? I've always wondered how cleanly that works out...any tips for keeping it tidy?
