My connection drops randomly - is it just me?
I've been using one of those mesh router systems for a couple months now, and at first it was awesome, like full bars everywhere in the house. But lately, it's gotten kinda flaky... I'll be streaming something or gaming and boom, connection drops for like 30 seconds. Super annoying, you know? Wondering if it's just my setup or if anyone else noticed this kinda thing with mesh routers.

Those 30-second drops sound especially suspicious if they line up with a device roaming between mesh nodes. Do they happen in the same areas of the house, or when moving around with a phone or laptop? I’d also check for a firmware update and try shifting the satellite node closer to the main router, since a weak node-to-node link can make the whole system appear to lose internet even when the modem is fine.
For similar 30-second mesh outages, check the system event log during a drop. A satellite backhaul loss supports trying a different node placement, while a WAN or modem disconnect at the main router points instead to the modem, ISP, or the router’s upstream connection.
For similar 30-second mesh drops, the event log can narrow it down: a satellite disconnecting and reconnecting points to the backhaul or node placement, while the main router losing its WAN lease points upstream to the modem, ISP, or router-to-modem link.
A 30-second pause in streaming or gaming doesn’t necessarily mean the whole internet connection dropped. If unrelated devices still have access at the same time, the interruption may be limited to one device, app, or game server rather than the mesh.
