I get where you’re coming from. I tried to keep things tidy too, but honestly, the cost of running conduit and then having to repaint every couple years just didn’t sit right with me. I ended up going with a weatherproof outdoor-rated cable and just tucked it behind some shrubs. Not perfect, but it blends in better and didn’t break the bank. I’m still not convinced there’s a truly “invisible” solution unless you’re ready to spend a lot more. Sometimes you just have to pick your battles, I guess.

That’s the eternal struggle, right? I’ve tried to hide cables behind trim or paint them to match the siding, but it always ends up being a compromise. Have you ever looked into those flat ethernet cables that can squeeze under door frames or along window sills? They’re not magic, but they’re less of an eyesore than conduit. Still, I get what you mean—sometimes “good enough” is as close to invisible as we get without going full renovation mode.

Honestly, unless you're willing to tear up walls or bury conduit, there's always going to be something visible. I tried those flat cables once—better than bright orange extension cords, but still not “invisible.” At some point, you just stop noticing the little stuff anyway.

Funny how true that is. I once spent a weekend obsessing over hiding a cable behind crown molding—ended up with a slightly crooked line and a lot of frustration. Now, I barely see it. Sometimes the “perfect” solution just isn’t worth the hassle.

I get where you’re coming from, but I’ll admit—sometimes those little details do bug me, especially if I know I could’ve done it better. That said, when it comes to running cables for wifi or whatever, I’ve learned to pick my battles. If hiding a wire perfectly means tearing up half the wall, it’s just not worth it. Function over flawless finish, most days. You’d be surprised how much stuff blends in once you start living with it.
