WHEN YOU THINK YOU KNOW BETTER THAN YOUR LAWYER

I totally get where you’re coming from. At first all these “extra” steps feel like someone’s just trying to rack up billable hours, but I’ve seen what happens when people skip them. My neighbor tried to put in a pool without checking the soil—turns out he hit a patch of fill dirt and the whole thing started sinking after the first big rain. Ended up costing way more than the test would have.

That said, sometimes it really does feel like overkill, especially when you’re itching to get started on a project. But honestly, peace of mind is worth a lot. There’s nothing worse than pouring your energy (and cash) into something only to find out later there’s a mess under the surface you could’ve caught early on.

I guess it comes down to picking your battles. Some stuff you can probably let slide, but when it comes to environmental or structural risks? I’d rather be safe than creative with my problem-solving... learned that one the hard way.
