I've had similar experiences with matte black fixtures—look fantastic initially but the upkeep gets old fast. Curious if anyone's tried brushed gold or brass finishes? Wondering how they hold up over time with water spots and fingerprints...

Switched to brushed gold fixtures about two years ago in our main bathroom. Initially, I was worried they'd show fingerprints and water spots just as badly, but honestly, they've held up surprisingly well. Here's what I've noticed: water spots do appear, but they're way less noticeable than on matte black. Fingerprints are minimal too—probably because of the brushed texture. Quick wipe-down every few days with a microfiber cloth keeps them looking sharp. Definitely less hassle overall compared to matte black...

Had matte black fixtures in our powder room for a while, and honestly, they drove me crazy with the water spots. Swapped them out for brushed nickel about a year ago—huge improvement. Like you said, the brushed texture makes fingerprints way less obvious. I still notice some water spots if I look closely, but nothing compared to the matte black drama. Quick wipe-down every few days does the trick. Overall, way less stressful...

Glad to hear the brushed nickel fixtures worked out better for you. Matte black can indeed be tricky—looks stunning in photos, but the upkeep isn't always practical in real life. I've seen clients struggle with similar frustrations, especially in high-traffic areas. Brushed finishes generally strike a nice balance between aesthetics and functionality. Sounds like you've found a good rhythm with the quick wipe-downs too...sometimes it's those small routines that make all the difference.

Brushed nickel is definitely easier day-to-day, but matte black isn't always as high-maintenance as people think. I've had good luck with matte black fixtures in bathrooms—depends a lot on water hardness and finish quality. It's not always a losing battle...just gotta pick your spots carefully.
