I did look at matte sinks for a second, but they were all way pricier than basic stainless. Did you find any that were actually affordable?

Honestly, I ran into the same thing. The matte finishes looked great, but the price tags were just... not justifiable for me. Ended up sticking with stainless too. I’ve tried a bunch of “eco” cleaners and honestly, it’s mostly the scrubbing that does the trick. The water spots are annoying, though—sometimes I wonder if it’s just our hard water making things worse. Haven’t found a hidden gem brand yet, but if you do, let us know.

I hear you on the water spots. It’s like no matter how much I wipe, they just reappear as soon as the sink dries. I’ve actually tried those “vinegar and baking soda” hacks, but honestly, the results weren’t much better than regular elbow grease. Has anyone tried one of those rinse agents they use for dishwashers, but in the sink? Not sure if that’s a terrible idea or genius. Also, what’s up with matte sinks costing so much? Are they made of unicorn dust or something?

Honestly, I’ve wondered about using a rinse agent too, but I’m not sure if it would mess with the finish on the sink over time. The price jump for matte sinks is wild—feels like you’re paying extra just to avoid polishing every day. Has anyone tried one of those silicone mats or liners to help with water spots? I’m curious if that actually helps or just adds another thing to clean...

I totally get what you mean about the matte sinks—honestly, the price difference is kind of wild for something that’s just a little less shiny. I’ve actually used those silicone mats in a few client kitchens. They do help with water spots, but they’re kind of a double-edged sword... they collect crumbs and gunk underneath if you don’t lift them up every so often. It’s less about cleaning the sink and more about cleaning the mat now, if that makes sense. Personally, I’d rather just do a quick wipe-down than deal with another thing to scrub.

Yeah, that’s exactly why I skipped the mat. I figured, why pay extra for a matte sink and then add another thing to clean? I just use a cheap microfiber cloth for quick wipe-downs. Anyone else feel like all these “solutions” just add more chores?
