What’s the safest routine care for drawer slides?
A sticking drawer doesn’t always need more lubricant. Dust or residue might be the issue, but a slide that’s out of alignment or worn can behave the same way, and the wrong lubricant could leave things worse.
If the slide brand isn’t marked, what features help identify its type? I’m especially curious whether concealed soft-close slides and exposed metal slides need different cleaning or lubrication, and which products are best avoided. What signs point to an alignment or repair issue rather than a slide that just needs cleaning?

With the drawer open, side-mounted slides are visible along its sides; concealed slides are hidden underneath. Either way, start by wiping dust from the accessible tracks. I’d only add lubricant if the slide maker recommends it: excess or incompatible products can attract debris or interfere with soft-close parts.
