Building my dream home: went with a one-time close loan - anyone else try this route?
ONE-TIME CLOSE LOANS: STRICT BUT MANAGEABLE
That “no changes” rule trips up a lot of folks, especially if you’re the type who gets inspired mid-build. I’ve seen people get stuck when they suddenly want to swap out finishes or tweak layouts, but if your plans are solid from the start, it’s usually smooth sailing. Did you find the upfront design process more stressful? Sometimes people underestimate how much detail you need to nail down before breaking ground. It’s a lot of decisions at once, but it does keep surprises to a minimum... which is rare in construction.
