Building new felt great, but was it worth the hassle?

We built our house from scratch last year, and honestly, it's amazing having everything exactly how we wanted...but man, the stress and delays nearly drove us nuts. Curious if others felt the same or preferred buying existing homes instead?

We see this all the time - people underestimate just how draining the building process can be. Sure, customizing every detail sounds great in theory, but the reality of managing contractors, permits, and delays can really take a toll. I've seen couples nearly split over tile choices or kitchen layouts...no joke.
I'm curious though, looking back now that you're settled in, do you think you'd handle things differently if you built again? Maybe hire a project manager or go with a different builder? Or would you skip the hassle altogether and just buy something already standing next time around?

Haha, yeah, I've witnessed similar meltdowns - who knew backsplash tiles could trigger existential crises? But seriously, do you think hiring a project manager actually reduces stress, or just adds another layer of complexity (and cost)?
