What should a landscape design-and-installation quote spell out?
Discussion options
A landscape proposal can look less expensive simply because it covers design only, while another includes installation or follow-up services. What’s the clearest way to compare them without missing work that may be priced later?
I’d like to understand which design deliverables are worth asking for separately, such as site analysis, a concept plan, and a planting plan, and how the proposal should show whether grading, drainage, irrigation, and lighting are included or excluded. How are revisions and construction oversight typically scoped and priced? I’m curious what details make the boundary between design and installation clear enough to compare bids fairly.

- Ask every bidder to price the same defined base scope, then show optional or excluded work separately, with its price and what would trigger adding it. That way, a lower base bid doesn’t look like a better deal just because grading, drainage, or another part of the work has been left out or deferred.
