FRESHENING UP BASEBOARDS WITH THAT “ONE COAT” PAINT—WORTH IT?
One coat never seems to cut it for me either, especially on trim that gets scuffed up. I tried one of those paint+primer combos on my last place—looked okay at first, but after a few months, you could see spots where it wore thin. Two coats just hold up better, even if it’s a pain. And yeah, sanding feels pointless until you see how much smoother the finish is.

- Same here, especially in high-traffic spots. One coat just doesn’t hide the old marks or dings.
- Paint+primer combos sound great, but in my experience, they’re more hype than help for baseboards.
- Prep makes a bigger difference than the paint itself. Quick sand, wipe down, then two coats—always looks sharper and lasts longer.
- I’ve tried to shortcut it before... ended up repainting a year later. Not worth the hassle.
