sometimes having a deadline pushes you to prioritize what really matters

That’s honestly so true. I’ve worked with a lot of clients who kept putting off renovations because the “someday” mindset just drags on forever. When you know you’re paying off your house in 15 years, it kind of lights a fire under you to make those updates happen sooner rather than later.

I get that the higher payment can feel intimidating, but if you budget for repairs and design tweaks from the start, it’s totally doable. I’ve seen people get creative—like tackling one room at a time or doing smaller DIY projects instead of full gut jobs. You don’t have to sacrifice style just because your mortgage is shorter.

Honestly, sometimes having less wiggle room makes you more intentional about where your money goes. That bathroom that’s been “almost done” for years? Suddenly it gets finished because there’s a real timeline. Not saying it works for everyone, but I wouldn’t write off the 15-year just because of renovation worries. Sometimes constraints actually help you focus on what’ll make your home feel right, faster.
