That’s exactly it. I remember talking to a couple who raved about their builder’s communication, but when I pressed about insulation and winter drafts, they got quiet. Turns out, their “energy efficient” home was freezing in January. I think references can be useful, but only if you’re willing to get specific—ask about stuff like air quality, utility bills, or how the place holds up in a heatwave. The details matter way more than the sales pitch.
