Need Advice On Replacing An Old Leaky Roof

I totally get the hesitation with synthetic slate. I checked out a few samples at a local supplier and, yeah, some of them looked a bit too shiny or “off” compared to real slate. Durability aside, it’s hard to unsee that once you notice it. As for metal, I’m in the same boat—heard horror stories about leaks from bad flashing jobs. I tried to be around as much as possible when my roof was done, but honestly, you can’t catch everything unless you’re up there with them. Ended up relying on lots of photos and asking way too many questions... probably annoyed the crew, but at least I slept better at night.
