I get the appeal of mixing materials, but honestly, I went with laminate that looks like stone and it’s been a game changer for my wallet. I know it’s not the “real” thing, but the new laminates are way better than they used to be. Super easy to clean, no sealing or oiling, and if I mess it up, I don’t feel like I’ve ruined a huge investment.
The wood brings warmth and is great for baking—just needs some TLC.
I love the look of butcher block, but I’m just not up for the upkeep. I bake a lot too, and I just use a big wooden board when I need that surface. It’s not quite the same vibe, but it works for me. Maybe one day I’ll splurge on quartz or real wood, but for now, I’m happy with my “faux” stone. Sometimes you gotta get creative when you’re on a budget...
