BUILDING ON A HILL VS. FLAT LAND: WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
I get the appeal of those hillside views, but honestly, I’d rather keep my wallet intact. Every time I’ve looked into hillside lots, the “unexpected costs” seem to pile up fast—retaining walls alone can blow a budget. Flat land isn’t as glamorous, but you know what you’re getting into, and you’re not constantly worried about drainage or erosion. For me, peace of mind (and not having to shell out for surprise engineering fixes) beats a killer view any day.
