Honestly, the quirks are part of the charm. New lumber just doesn’t have those stories... or the occasional surprise colony of powderpost beetles.

That’s the thing—those “stories” can be a double-edged sword. I’m curious, has anyone found a reliable way to make sure reclaimed wood is actually pest-free before bringing it inside? I’ve heard about kiln drying, but does that always work? Sometimes I wonder if the environmental benefits outweigh the hassle, especially if you end up tossing half the batch.
