Cheap disposable Tyvek suit, but I cut small vents in the back and underarms for airflow. Not pretty, but less of a sweatbox.

I hear you on the sweatbox. I tried the Tyvek too, but those things aren’t cheap if you’re doing multiple trips up there. Ended up using a painter’s suit from Harbor Freight—costs less, holds up okay for a couple uses. Taping the wrists is key, but I just use duct tape I’ve got lying around. Cold shower is a must, but I also keep a lint roller by the attic door. Gets a surprising amount of fibers off before you even hit the shower.

I’ve never tried the lint roller trick, but that actually sounds pretty smart. I always end up itching for hours even after a shower. I’ve used those painter’s suits too, but the zipper always seems to give out on me after a couple trips. Anyone ever try just layering old clothes and tossing them after? I feel like I ruin a t-shirt every time I go up there...

DEALING WITH ITCHY PINK NIGHTMARE IN MY ATTIC

I’ve tried the old clothes layering thing a few times, but honestly, it never really worked for me. The fibers still get through, and I’d still be scratching for days. Have you looked at Tyvek suits? They’re a bit pricier than painter’s suits, but the zippers seem to last longer and they’re a lot more resistant to tearing. I’m curious—are you dealing with blown-in insulation or batts? Sometimes the type makes a difference in how much of a mess you end up with on your skin.

Tyvek suits are a game changer, honestly. I used to just double up on old sweats and still ended up itching for days, like you said. The Tyvek keeps most of the fibers out, but I still tape the cuffs and neck just to be safe. For me, the worst was when I had to crawl through blown-in insulation—stuff gets everywhere, no matter what you wear. Batts are a little easier to manage, but they still shed. Are you also running into issues with the stuff getting in your hair? That was always the hardest part for me to deal with...

Man, the hair thing is brutal. I remember one time I thought a baseball cap would be enough—nope, still ended up with fiberglass stuck in my scalp for days. Now I just go full shower cap under the hood. Not stylish, but it saves me a ton of grief later. The tape trick helps too, but nothing’s perfect with that stuff...
