DEALING WITH ITCHY PINK NIGHTMARE IN MY ATTIC

I tried the shower cap thing too, but those cheap ones from the dollar store just ripped on me halfway through crawling around up there. Ended up using one of those plastic grocery bags tied off with a rubber band—looked ridiculous, but it actually worked better for me and didn’t cost anything extra. Still had to scrub my arms for ages, though... That pink stuff is relentless.

- Grocery bag trick is clever, but I’d be careful with that—those things can tear too, and you don’t want insulation dust in your hair.
- I always go with a painter’s suit (the disposable kind). Not the cheapest, but saves a ton of itching and scrubbing later.
- For arms, I duct tape the sleeves to my gloves. Not pretty, but it keeps the pink stuff out.

Did you have to move any of that insulation around, or just crawling over it? Sometimes disturbing it makes the itch way worse...

That duct tape trick is gold. I learned the hard way—first time I ever messed with attic insulation, I just wore an old hoodie and jeans. Big mistake. Ended up itching for days, and I swear I was still finding fiberglass in my socks a week later. Now I suit up, even if it feels like overkill. And yeah, stirring up the insulation is the worst part... once you start moving it around, the itch factor goes up about tenfold.

That’s rough—I’ve been there. I’ve found that even with full gear, those tiny fibers somehow sneak in. Have you tried using painter’s coveralls? They’re not too expensive and do a better job sealing things up than regular clothes, plus they’re disposable. I’m curious if anyone’s found a way to keep it out of shoes, though. Boot covers maybe? The stuff just gets everywhere.

Boot covers help, but I’ve had the best luck with duct taping the cuffs of my coveralls to my boots. Not the most stylish look, but it keeps most of the fibers out. Still, somehow I always end up itchy somewhere... maybe it’s just inevitable?
