I’ve noticed the same thing—references can sound a bit rehearsed, almost too perfect. I always recommend looking at the details during a walkthrough, like trim work or how doors fit, but you’re right, stuff like HVAC or insulation issues won’t show up right away. I’ve had clients who loved their builder initially but found problems months later that weren’t obvious at first. Long-term feedback is definitely more telling than those first impressions...
