Why does my browser keep forgetting stuff?

Sometimes I just email myself important links now. Not high-tech, but at least it works.

Funny you mention that—I’ve ended up doing the same thing more times than I’d like to admit. There’s something about relying on browser sync that feels convenient until it isn’t. Lost a whole folder of zoning resources once, and it set me back a few days. Tried exporting bookmarks manually after that, but honestly, it’s easy to forget. Emailing yourself might not be fancy, but at least you know where things are.

That’s pretty much my backup plan too, especially after losing a bunch of permit PDFs when Chrome decided to “refresh” itself. I get why browser sync is supposed to be helpful, but it’s just one more thing that can break. Have you ever tried using a password-protected spreadsheet for links? Not perfect, but at least you control the file. Curious if anyone’s found a way to automate backups that doesn’t involve yet another extension...

Title: Why does my browser keep forgetting stuff?

I’ve run into the same headache—lost a whole folder of inspection photos once when Edge did an update. I tried the password-protected spreadsheet route for a while, but honestly, it got messy fast. Ever mess up a cell and lose a link? Not fun. Lately, I just save critical docs to a synced cloud folder (like Dropbox), then set up my own backup script to copy that folder every week. No extensions needed, but it does take a bit of setup. Anyone else find browser sync more trouble than it’s worth? Sometimes feels like it’s solving problems I didn’t have...

Honestly, browser sync always feels like it’s trying to be too clever for its own good. I’ve had Chrome randomly “forget” my bookmarks after an update—talk about a heart attack moment. I just stick with cloud folders now, too. Less drama, more control... even if it’s a bit old-school.

Honestly, I get the appeal of cloud folders, but I can’t help myself—I still trust browser sync, even after it’s burned me a couple times. Lost all my tabs once during a late-night research binge... felt like someone yanked the blueprints right out of my hands. Still, I keep hoping the next update will finally get it right. Maybe I’m just an optimist (or a glutton for punishment).
