Unless your windows are ancient or rotting, patching up the leaks is usually the best bang for your buck.

That lines up with what I've seen on a lot of sites. Before jumping into big upgrades, I always suggest a step-by-step approach. First, check for drafts—sometimes it’s as simple as holding a candle near the frames and watching for flickers. If you find leaks, weatherstripping and caulk are quick fixes that can make a huge difference.

One thing I’d add: don’t overlook attic insulation. Even if your windows are decent, heat loss through the roof can be just as bad. I’ve seen projects where folks spent on new windows but skipped the attic, and their bills barely budged.

Draft snakes are underrated, honestly. I used to think they were just for old houses, but they work in new builds too if the doors aren’t sealed right. It’s not glamorous, but neither is paying for wasted heat...

Curious if anyone’s tried those window film kits? I’ve heard mixed things about them—some say they’re a pain, others swear by them for older glass.
