Honestly, those maps are a mess sometimes. I’ve had to drag out my big binder of docs and play “spot the difference” with the GIS map. My advice: snap photos of your surveys and plats, email them in, then follow up... and follow up again. It’s like composting—takes patience, but it pays off.

That’s a pretty solid analogy. I’ve had my fair share of “wait, is that my boundary or the neighbor’s shed?” moments with those online maps. What’s worked for me is cross-referencing the GIS with the county’s scanned deeds—sometimes they don’t match up, but at least you can spot where things went sideways. I also keep a running list of questions for the county clerk... saves me from sending five emails in a row. It’s not perfect, but it beats guessing and hoping for the best.
