Why Do Old Buildings Look So Different From Modern Ones?
That’s the magic of old places, right? I once rented a loft in a converted carriage house—had these wild, twelve-foot ceilings and original crown moldings. Sure, the drafts were relentless and the radiators clanked like they were haunted, but every corner had a story. Newer homes nail efficiency, but they rarely have those hand-carved details or stained glass quirks. Sometimes I think builders just don’t have the patience (or budget) for that kind of craftsmanship anymore... it’s a trade-off between comfort and character, I guess.
